High School Learner Support

Main Focus

Learner Support

Our Learner Support programme is designed to optimise the teaching and learning experience, empowering pupils with learning barriers to achieve meaningful proficiency in academic, emotional, and social areas before they leave school.

Our Aim is to:

Assist pupils with barriers to participate in the full curriculum for their grade level.

Develop pupil’s self-esteem and promote a positive attitude towards learning and school.

Empower pupils to assess their own learning and become independent thinkers.

Provide supplementary teaching and additional support for these pupils.

Enrich pupils in their core learning areas where they are having trouble in an ongoing basis

Support clear channels of communication among the teachers in the implementation of the Learner Support Policy.

Endeavour to include and encourage the parents in supporting their children with barriers to learning through regular meetings and feedback sessions.

Launch Early Intervention Programmes aimed at improving learning, to prevent or reduce barriers to learning.

Implement a Reading programme with the aim to eliminate possible backlogs in learning which may lead to learning difficulties

How do we achieve this?

Each department determines a workable to address their barrier to learning and how to enrich their pupils.

Teachers to communicate with parents when pupils achieve specific results and refer them for enrichment opportunities as well as to the Learner support department for additional support.

Intervention and enrichment is a whole school approach.
